Hello. My name is Aleksey. Recently has downloaded ideal simulator EU07. I wish to tell many thanks to the Polish developers. I work as the machinist of the locomotive. I have the higher engineering educations. Your project not to be compared to one simulator. Other simulators have no such possibilities. Physical model, towing performances and steering of the locomotive top-level. Thanks you huge for your work and sleepless nights.

But I do not have any Russian rolling stock. The Russian developers have very much promoted in working out of additions for Microsoft Train Simulator. But MSTS it not a simulator, and an arcade. It is not interesting, as a simulator. At me is 3d locomotive TEM2 model. There is ready 3d a cabin for it and the present sounds. To convert model from 3dMax it is easy. We have knowledge, experience, the technical literature, drawings and access to any railway information. The help in technical adjustment of the locomotive in game is necessary for us. How to adjust in a simulator the locomotive. How to register technical and towing performances. It is necessary to realise ALSN (the automatic locomotive signalling). And many other technical moments.

Perhaps, among developers there are Russian or Russian-speaking citizens? Even if you do not know Russian, we can cope with a language barrier. Help, please. All who can. Together we can hoist EU07 to improbable heights of realism.

There is no list with every parameter. You can change it as much as you want, bo sometimes "Abnormal program termination" can occur or some other not realistic things :] You know, train which cannot be stopped or accelerate without any force etc.

I want to make this list for a long time, but maybe in a few days I'll post it, both Polish and English versions.

Business contact may be a somehow misleading wording here :) This project is fully freeware and will never be commercial, so we could talk about partnership rather than business :)
We can help adjusting the .mmd/.chk files, and in some time you should be able to work on them yourself as they aren't that hard to master.
I like this idea, as we are currently in an early process of creating a new version of the simulator, which will feature enhanced graphics engine and improved performance, along things like a proper scenery editor etc. It'll be at least a year before we get to making a functional public version, but once we're there the existing models can be transferred. International cooperation will help to spread the new project around the world, only making it better.

Some questions:

Unfortunately, there is no support for multi-sub materials currently; you'll need to separate sub-objects from the main object and texture them separatedly (you can, of course, use the same texture file for this). You will also have to ensure that all the sub-objects are linked in the hierarchical view (all major sub-objects link to the main model, but e.g. wheels should be linked to boogies which should be linked to the main model). The current code of the simulator was created around 2000 when nobody had envisaged that the project will be so popular in the future. This is one of the things that will change in the new version of the simulator (please, refrain from using the word 'game' as we're quite clear that this is a simulator and not a game :).

Someone else will answer your second question; I don't have a list with me at the moment. About the animations, the cab components (switches, buttons, indicators etc) can be animated (look at various elements of EU07 cab and how they behave), externally the wheels can rotate and the boogies can also rotate on arc's. Also the pantographs can adjust to the traction wire and there is also a 2-state view of the couplers (coupled & uncoupled without animation). All the sounds and animations are defined in the .mmd file where you actually specify the names of the 3dsmax objects.

No it shouldn't, becouse its one folder splited up tp 6 parts. So you have to download all the files and 7-zip unpacker. Than you can extract the simulator.

Dear developers.

To me have informed that in a simulator Russian brakes of a rolling stock are not realised. Type of Matrosova. But in them there is nothing difficult. To begin with I have created the instruction on brakes. It is created on the basis of an educational training apparatus of the locomotive 2TE10v.
Archive The_instruction_on_brakes.rar contains two files: a training apparatus tren_2te10v.rar, instruction ReadMe.docx. Convincingly I ask you to familiarise.

Just to summarize, the main physics engine has not improved much since around 2004 with the exception of the brake systems - one of developers, youBy, is currently working on an improved brake pneumatics systems. He should also be able to help with the braking system you've described above; I'll check with him on that. The changes that were completed after 2004 are mainly related to adding some graphical options like sky texture, driveable diesel engines, lights etc.

It will not be possible with the current version, but I don't see a problem with making it in the SPT project.

LocomotivBL80:
The old version is not being officially developed anymore because we try to focus on the new project. There is, however, a couple of people who still work on the old project, but they do not synchronize their work which resulted in various different versions of the .exe file, each having some new features that the others don't have. I know that it is not the way it should be done, but various people just tried to modify something on their own when we decided that the old project will be too hard to extend.

First, thanks you for the help and answers to questions!

Secondly, I consider necessary to create separate section of a forum. It will be entirely devoted creation of a new simulator. It is necessary for us to organise process of creation of a simulator. If over the project some persons it not to turn out to finish even by 2030 work. Over the project many people should work. It is necessary to take in a command of engineers, programmers, designers, photographers, machinists, dispatchers, путейцев, mechanics and other experts. If the considerable quantity of unorganized people we cannot reach success is simple. Everyone them them should be engaged in the separate task.
For this purpose in new section of a forum it is necessary to create following sections (example):

1. Programming;
2. Design;
3. Physics;
4. Working out of the editor;
5. Multi-player working out;
6. Sound.

All should be organised. Developers should know the problems. Everyone should be engaged in a separate part of the project. Only so we can raise productivity of the work!

That should be in a new simulator:

1. An open code;

2. Language of scripts - dialect LISP (AutoLISP);

3. The Database of additions – SQLite (example);

4. System of distribution of additions on the basis of P2P the report (bittorrent);

5. The Supervisory console (multi-player);

6. There Should be a possibility for creation of routes on the basis of a real relief and photos from space (GoogleMAPs);

7. There Should be a possibility Language of scripts devices and their interaction with locomotives;

8. The physics of game should understand variable and logic expressions;

9. The Artificial intellect should be realistic. The traffic should understand the majority of triggers, and not just variable and speed;

10. Realism, realism and once again realism!!!

The Polish developers have proved the ability to create a real simulator. Among Russian railwaymen there is a set of competent and talented people. The project already became international. The Polish, Russian, Swedish, Italian, English both other engineers and programmers were connected to simulator creation. Only together we can receive positive result.

Good luck to all of you. We do the given project not for someone. We do the given project for ourselves and our children. Thanks all of you. I trust in our project!!! At all of us it will turn out.

Hello Locomotiv,

We already have forum for development and TRAC project management system (http://www.eu07.pl/projects/eu07-spt). Code wouldn't be released before some first basic version. We plan to use Python as scripting language, and SQLite for configuration management. Most physics code will be made as plugins to core engine.


Current works:
 * @Abu have some concepts regarding Virtual Dispatcher
 * @Adammo is working on infrastructure editor
 * @Robal is working on terrain editor
 * @youBy is working on brakes implementation for new simulator and testing his concepts in old.

I'm working on overall architecture, build system and make some small test applications to verify concepts.

ShaXbee, I think you meant Russian, not English :) We're proficient enough to use English, but I believe that nobody from around developers team knows Russian. This is why we won't be able to translate to Russian - we can create an empty page for Russian content, but all the translation from English will have to be done by Russian developers.

The fact that you don't understand something doesn't mean that it is wrong :)

We need to test new pluggable architecture for vehicles physics, and this 'simplified' physics will be just working concept to test usability of solution.

4. Please, pay attention on «Kuju Rail Simulator». In the given game the utility for consciousness of configuration files of locomotives, cars, objects is perfectly created. It is necessary to fill certain fields in the program. Then the program creates independently configuration file of the locomotive, the car, the object. The file will be created in a necessary format (*.xml or *.chk).

I will surely pay attention to requirements you mentioned, some of them are already implemented in old simulator.
As i said before in new simulator everything that is possible will be moved to plugins and external classes, configuration of vehicles will be simply python scripts and also action handlers could be written in python, but some performance-critical features should be written in C++ with only interfaces to Python.

Very important parametre of popularity of a railway simulator is the editor of paths. What principles will underlie new editor EU07-SPT? How there will be a packing of tracks? There will be a possibility to create a real relief by means of topological cards NASA in a format «*.hgt»? Whether integration of the new editor with program Google Earth is possible?

It is necessary to make interesting feature of a new simulator possibility of creation of scripts for world objects. As a result we have an opportunity completely to recover world around. To recover servers, devices of shipment and outswapping of cars, locomotive depots and many other things.

I curently work on my own editor, for the old MaSzyna (but not limited to). It downloads air photos from geoportal.gov.pl (through eu07.pl, to cache them). They are in PUWG 1992 coordinates and applies to Poland only. Resolution is 4px/m in monochrome (or 2px/m in some places, but with color). It is much better for Poland area than Google Maps.

Google Maps are probably in UTM coordinates - UTM has one sewing on the Polad area, while PUWG 1992 does not. Besides, Google Maps have worse resolution outside main cities and sometimes have strange colors (see Katowice (http://mapy.google.pl/maps?ie=UTF8&ll=50.294878,19.103765&spn=0.024729,0.053816&t=k&z=14) for example).

The SRTM has very poor precision - ±5m for flat areas, outside cities and forests. I've tried to use it - see pictures at end of this topic:

Photomap is taken from geoserwer.pl (http://geoserwer.pl) (they are offered there for commercial purposes, usually have 1250px/km, also in PUWG 1992).

One, minor remark. When you post to the forum, please do not paste the translation into Polish. It's a completely rubbish and useless. I guess it's an output of a web translator. It's unreadable, sometimes funny and often misleading - so there's no sense to post it here. Many interested people carry on with English, so that's enough. Translation into Polish done by a computer is useless here. Pity, that we cannot communicate in a less distant and more slavic-like language.
